NACADA Kenya praises Simple Boy for his abstinence.

Written by on October 23, 2024

Stevo Simple Boy recently refused a bottle of Champagne from Noriega Donself and also declined an offer of cigars, emphasising the importance of “saying no to drugs”.

He pointed out that tobacco is a drug and urged Kenyans to speak out against it.

Additionally, Stevo discussed his music career and announced plans for a major event to celebrate his five years in the industry.

NACADA Kenya praised Stevo on social media after Nairobi Gossip Club shared excerpts from the interview.

“Vile Inafaa. Glorification of drug use by content creators should stop. Drugs are not the only way to act and stay cool. Hapo ulicheza kama wewe stevosimpelboy au sio?”

The song ‘Mihadarati’ was released six years ago, and currently has more than one million views.

The video to the song was shot in Kibera, his neighbourhood, where he cautioned against drug abuse.

“The song Mihadarati just came to my mind. I had an idea and entered the studio,” he said about being given a beat, and the creative process behind the popular song.

The song gained widespread popularity on the internet in 2019 after Stevo appeared on The Chipukeezy Show on Ebru TV.

During the show, the Shega hitmaker discussed his past experiences with managers and explained how his new perspective on his career differed from theirs, leading to a lack of a good working relationship due to conflicting ideologies.

Stevo’s musical journey began in 2006 as a street performer, entertaining passersby and roadside traders in the streets of Kibera.

In 2008, he was discovered by the award-winning comedian Geoffrey Oyoo, who then introduced him to Kibera Creative Arts.

Through rehearsals and nurturing at Kibera Creative Arts, Stevo’s talent flourished. Kibera Creative Arts is the organisation that owns and operates the MADE IN KIBERA studio.
