Nyota Ndogo, a veteran artist from the Coast region, took to Facebook to express her distress after a user on the platform insulted her appearance.
She posted a video showing her face before the Facebook user ridiculed her, saying she has a face that belongs in the afterlife.
Deeply hurt by the comment, Nyota Ndogo shared an emotional message, expressing her hope that the person who mocked her face would give birth to a child who resembles her.
“Thank God for giving you beauty, but saying that my face belongs in hell… you haven’t died or finished giving birth yet, have you? So here is my heartfelt prayer: may you conceive and give birth to a child who looks like me because God makes no mistakes,” Nyota wrote.
She also voiced her frustration with the widespread trend of social media users constantly hurling insults at celebrities.
Nyota noted that while most celebrities may see the insults and remain silent, they still feel the pain because no rule says public figures must endure insults.
“There’s something you, as our fans, need to understand. You see the blood that flows through your veins? That same blood flows through mine. Many bad things are said about me, and I know my fellow celebrities go through the same.
“I know my fellow celebrities go through the same, but I usually ignore it. However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt. My brothers and sisters, someone can say something that cuts deep, making you cry, and then you return to social media with a smile, but don’t cross the line to the point of hurting us. Or do you think we don’t have responses or insults of our own?” Nyota questioned.
