Obinna denies claims of “eating” Kimani’s money.

YouTuber Oga Obinna has responded to claims made by Kimani Mbugua, who alleged that Obinna is withholding Ksh 50,000 contributed by fans.

The accusations emerged shortly after the former radio presenter promised to offer Kimani a job following his discharge from a rehab centre in Mombasa.

In a statement shared on social media, Obinna expressed his thoughts on the situation: “From the look of things, Kimani might not be back to his full self just yet.

There may be a risk of relapse. I do not appreciate the criticism he is receiving. Let’s stop insulting him; he is our brother.

We should wait and see what happens. His father texted me, informing me that Kimani requested him to stay away.

We still have Ksh 100,000 remaining. The signatories for this are Kimani’s father and me. We agreed to pay for his rent for six months by the end of January.

When Kimani appeared on my show after leaving rehab, people sent him money, but it was sent to his sister, not to me.”

Obinna continued, “Let’s be kind to him and treat him with respect. Insults are not helpful. We should not be too hard on him; he needs us more than he realises. I am unaware of the Ksh 50,000 he mentioned.

The money we raised was more than that and was used to support both Kimani Mbugua and journalist Eunice Omollo.

I believe we might have let him out too soon. Let’s wait and see how things unfold. Please keep him and others battling mental health issues in your prayers.”

Kimani Mbugua was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020. He previously co-hosted The Trend on NTV alongside Larry Madowo and later hosted a show on Citizen TV.
