Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is in federal custody, facing serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
His arrest in New York on September 16th, 2024, followed a string of civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and violence, some dating back to the 1990s.
Combs, 54, is accused of using his influence in the entertainment industry to drug, assault, and rape victims.
Over a dozen people have come forward, filing lawsuits against him, including a man who was allegedly forced to undress at a party in 1998 when he was 16.
Federal prosecutors have charged Combs with racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force.
They accuse him of running a criminal enterprise, using drugs, violence, and his status to manipulate and abuse victims in orchestrated events called “Freak Offs.”
Raids on his homes in Miami and Los Angeles uncovered firearms, ammunition, and over 1,000 bottles of lubricant.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and his legal team has sought his release due to poor jail conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
However, prosecutors argue that he poses a flight risk, and his bail requests have been denied. If convicted, he could face a sentence ranging from 15 years to life in prison.
His accusers include former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who claims Combs trapped her in a cycle of abuse for over a decade. Though they settled her case out of court, more victims have come forward.
Other accusers include Joi Dickerson-Neal, who alleges Combs drugged and raped her in 1991, and Liza Gardner, who says he assaulted her at age 16.
The allegations against Combs span decades and involve multiple victims, both men and women.
Despite the mounting accusations, Combs maintains his innocence, and his legal team continues to fight the charges, claiming the lawsuits are driven by financial motives.
The case against him remains ongoing, with the possibility of more charges as new witnesses come forward.
