President Ruto dedicates a special message to Mama Rachel.

Despite President William Ruto sharing a heartfelt message dedicated to his wife, Rachel, on her birthday, it has been revealed that the Kenyan head of state was unaware that it was the First Lady’s special day. 

This revelation came during a celebration for World Children’s Day 2024 at the Kaptembwo and Heshima primary school grounds in Nakuru, where one of the children asked Rachel Ruto if the president had treated her to anything special.

“Did our father tell you ‘happy birthday,’ sing for you, and give you gifts?” one of the kids happily inquired.

In response, Rachel called upon her daughter, who was present at the event, to confirm whether her father had done any of those charming gestures. 

“I have somebody here who can say… they can tell you. Stephanie, you can answer that question. Let her answer for me,” Rachel said.

When called upon, Stephanie stood up and playfully asked the crowd if they truly wanted the honest truth or if she should tell a little white lie.

“Hey everyone, my name is Stephanie and the first lady is my mother… do you want the truth? Okay, when I met him in the morning and asked him he told me he had forgotten that it was her birthday,” the first daughter candidly revealed much to the dismay of the public. 

Quickly defending her dad, she added that once it dawned on him that it was a special day he promised to work on something. “But he told me when she comes back home in the evening he will have a surprise planned out for her. That is the truth,” Stephanie added. 

The kid startled by the reply shared their surprise stating, “Actually now I’m thinking how can someone forget a birthday… their wife’s birthday,”

Rachel soon joined the defense train asking people to extend grace to her husband as heading a state wasn’t an easy job. 

“You know our president is a very busy man, you can understand him,” the first lady said.

Yesterday, through his X account, the president shared a photo of him and his wife standing side by side smiling broadly as they held hands. 

The president was in a dark blue suit, and white shirt paired with his signature red tie. On her part, Rachel donned a green and black kitenge print blouse and skirt paired with gold and black heels.

Captioning the post he wrote, “Happy birthday my love, Mama Rachel Ruto. Continue being a blessing to me and our children,”

Adding,

“Mungu akubariki sana (may God bless you abundantly)”
