Sawe expressed his excitement about competing in Atlanta in a post-race interview.

“In this career of athletics, I’m like trying to be where we have not been. So it was my choice. I’m trying to run here,” he explained.

When asked about his message to young runners who look up to him for inspiration and motivation, Sawe emphasized the virtues of perseverance and dedication.

“Yeah, running is so good. It needs special and hard work,” he stated, underscoring the rigorous commitment required to excel in the sport.

Sawe also took a moment to address his fans back home in Kenya.

“I wish them a happy time. I represented them well, and I clicked (called) them and wish them a nice evening there,” he said, highlighting his connection and gratitude towards his supporters.

The race was intense, with Sawe narrowly defeating Leonard Ebenyo by just two seconds.

This close finish showcased the fierce competition and the high calibre of the participating athletes.
