Safal Group Rolls Out Safal Eye In The Wild Photography Competition 2021

  • The campaign runs from 09, September to 21, October 2021
  • Campaign aims to drive conversations on landscape conservation.

Safal Group, Africa’s largest Manufacturer of Steel Roofing Products with a footprint across eight countries has launched the Safal Eye in the Wild Competition 2021. The launch is in collaboration with its local operation Mabati Rolling Mills, with experience in building solutions spanning sixty years.

This competition was inaugurated in 2017 with a focus on Kenya’s wildlife. In subsequent years, the competition has been anchored on several other environmental themes. In 2018, the focus was on saving our trees while in 2019, water conservation took center stage. With a brief hiatus in 2020 due to deadly Covid19 Pandemic, Safal Group is back with a bigger and better competition focusing on African Landscapes.

During a time when the world order has been disrupted by the pandemic, the Safal Eye in the Wild Competition seeks to spread cheerfulness and rejuvenate the human spirit. It’s a call to action to go out and experience nature through photography and spark great conversations around conversation; and where else other than Africa with its amazing natural landscapes that connects our past and future aspirations.

Safal Group together with its operations across Africa has a robust CSR arm that carries four pillars, health, education, environment and shelter. The Safal Eye in the Wild Competition aligns with the Environment Pillar and uses photography as a medium to create awareness on selected thematic areas.

Speaking during the Launch, Manish Mehra, the MRM Business Head called upon photographers, conservationists, corporates, government bodies and the general public to participate in the photography competition and be part of driving meaningful conversations around conservation of our landscapes.

“Africa provides amazing natural landscapes that we have chosen to anchor this year’s campaign. We aspire to see great photography and inspire people to conserve these natural resources. We celebrate an aspect of nature that connects the past, present and future,” said Mr. Mehra, launch event at the Impala Picnic Site in Nairobi National Park.

Mr. Mehra further said that the Group has partnered with professional judges to help in identifying the top 20 photographs. He reiterated that the judges will look out for photos that show how different African landscapes have shaped the cultures, values, and practices of the surrounding communities and shed light on the urgent need to conserve the continent’s landscape.

The Chief Guest, Director Parks and Reserves, Prof. Charles Musyoki noted the synergy between Safal Group and the Kenya Wildlife Services where the two share a common aspiration on sustainable conservation of wildlife and natural habitats for posterity. In his key note address, Prof. Musyoki lauded the efforts by Safal Group in promoting conservation of the environment.

Speaking at the same event the Safal Group’s Marketing, Communications & External Affairs Group Officer, Anthony Ng’ang’a mentioned the recent commitment by MRM to partner with Kenya Wildlife Services in their latest campaign dubbed Magical Kenya Tembo naming Festival by naming an Elephant.  He said that KWS’s mandate fits well with Safal Group’s environment pillar and opens many other opportunities for future partnerships.

The Safal Eye in the Wild Competition starts on September 10 and ends on October 21 2021. The competition is open to both professionals and amateurs residing in Africa.
