The recent Cabinet nominations announced by President William Ruto have sparked discussions among Kenyans and political enthusiasts.
Aspiring politician Saumu Mbuvi, who plans to run for a political seat in 2027, shared her thoughts on social media about the nominees and how it has stirred up strong reactions among Kenyans.
She expressed her concerns and also talked about her hopes for the future of Gen Z’s anti-government protests.
“If only the Gen Z movement chose some representative instead of staying leaderless. We could have forefronted one of our own for a CS position to put these people on their toes and be our eyes but now the opposition rode all the efforts and all we have now is a merged government and recycled CS members and Gen Z being the opposition.
She went on to add;
“That’s why alot of strategizing was needed not just going to maandamano now we are sidelined and back to square zero. Now make sure when voter registration begins you all come out so that by the time elections get here we send most people home. Glad to have been part of the movement”
This did not go down well with young Kenyans and Saumu later emerged to claim that she had received numerous phone messages, what is now being called ‘kusalimiwa’
“Sasa mumeamua kunisalimia and we are all entitled to our own public opinion. The only way to change the system is to be part of the system. It is better to try to work to achieve patterns of change not just static snapshots. When you dont understand your role in the problem then it’s difficult to be part of the solution. I rest my case”
The mother of 2 added a screenshot of DP Gachagu’as comments made in March 2023 suggesting he is opposed to the idea of a handshake with Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Saumu commented “Politics is quite a game where there are no permanent enemies, and permanent friends, only permanent interests”
On President Ruto’s second batch of Cabinet nominees, Saumu lamented “The move is to secure himself a second term. The Pentagon group just reunited. Raila is off for retirement and Gen Z is the new opposition alot is really happening”
Saumu also announced that she was taking a break from politics over the attacks “Dont take political matters to heart it never that serious. I rest my case no more politics for me now. I’m on a break”
In another follow-up to her being bashed, she shared a note that read “I wanna move to the mars and hang out with aliens, I’m tired of humans” adding an angry face avatar.
