Sexist And Racist Coachella?

Written by on April 23, 2019

Coachella is over and even though Ariana Grande owned the stage for two consecutive weekends, controversy galore over what she may have made.

Beyonce’s Coachella performance last year was one of the best at the festival’s history. And now,you can relive the Queen Bey’s performance by binging on her new Netflix docu Homecoming. So good was it that it necessitated a streaming version of it and a new deluxe album laden with the live versions of all the songs. Not too long ago, what now turns to have been fake, baseless reports indicated that Ari had made twice more what Beyonce and that was not about to auger well with the beehive. The resentment was bad,so much so that during Ariana Grande’s Coachella set for the second weekend,a lemon was hurled her way. Conspiracy theories have been rife on who exactly could have thrown it,and they are convincing as they come. Beyonce’s Lemonade album was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2016 so the lemon was but grave symbolism that a member of the beehive was fed  up.

Further reports indicated that The Weeknd, who also headlined last year, raked in more than both Bey and Ari. That sparked even more backlash given his performance pales in comparison to Beyonce’s. Is Coachella really biased? We bet so. Beyonce’s iconic performance is incomparable so it is an absolute no-brainer that she should have made more. If the Homecoming documentary is anything to go by,what do you make of 8 months of rehearsals leading up to the 2-hour performance? Needless to mention that she went down as the first ever black woman to headline Coachella!
