Erik ten Hag will remain as Manchester United’s manager next season and could potentially extend his contract.
The club has decided not to fire ten Hag and will instead start negotiations for a contract renewal.
Rumours had suggested that Manchester United was determined to dismiss the Dutch manager before the FA Cup final and even began discussions with potential replacements.
However, his victory over Manchester City in the final appears to have influenced the decision to retain him.
According to reports, following a thorough review of the 2023/24 season, the Manchester United leadership has opted to continue with ten Hag.
They have held discussions with the former Utrecht manager and conveyed to him that he will retain his position.
Ten Hag had signed a three-year deal when he joined the club in the summer of 2022.
After a disappointing campaign that saw Manchester United finish with their worst Premier League position, there were concerns about the final year of his contract.
It was previously considered to replace him, and talks had been held with potential replacements, including ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who declined the offer.
However, the club has now decided to stick with Ten Hag, especially after he finished the season on a high note by securing the FA Cup victory over Manchester City.
