The Superbowl’s Many Controversies,And JLo’s 2020 Rumored Headline Performance

Written by on July 22, 2019

The Superbowl is profoundly hailed for its iconic performances and its ability to pull huge crowds annually. It marks the culmination of the championship of the National Football League in the US. The Superbowl has seen groundbreaking performances among them the 2013 Superbowl that saw Beyonce put on a show that has been talked of ever since. Then there was Katy Perry’s 2014 and Lady Gaga’s 2017 Superbowl performances respectively that round up as the one of the best of all time. Fast forward to Justin Timberlake’s underwhelming 2018  performance that saw widespread criticism and as if that was not bad enough,Maroon 5’s 2019 performance drew huge backlash for a myriad reasons. One being that they agreed to play the Superbowl after both Rihanna and Pink turned it down in their protest to the NFL and police brutality. Then the obvious double standard that was apparent after Adam Levine took his shirt off and the NFL was unfazed by it,a far cry from the treatment that befell Janet Jackson after her infamous performance.

Suffice to say,the Superbowl has not been the same for the last 2 years. Rumour has it that Jennifer Lopez will headline the 2020 Superbowl. The monstrous event is slated to happen at Miami Gardens,Florida on Sunday Feb 2. Could JLo bring back its almost-lost glory? We’ll wait and see.
