Stand-up comedian Trevor Noah has shared why he “hates” fame. According to him, fame makes people feel like they own you.
In an interview with the ‘Diary Of A CEO,’ Trevor says he loves what he has achieved but hates the lack of privacy that comes with fame.
“I do not want it nor do I need it. People will never appreciate the beauty and the tranquility that comes with anonymity. Having the ability to write your story. When you meet a stranger you can look at someone and tell them who you are.”
Fame has affected how his friends interact with him, “I have friends who won’t go out with me because they are like ‘I wanna have a meal and not be disturbed.’ Or ‘I wanna wear whatever I want without being photographed next to you and I end up looking terrible.’ I get where they are coming from.”
Trevor says most times people don’t realise just like them celebrities have bad days where they just want to be left alone.
“The downside of fame is that you are owned by the world. As a celebrity no matter how bad your day is people expect you to engage with them. I understand their perspective but it’s hard.”
He went on to add, “Most people in the public eye live an isolated life and a very depressed life.”
