Accompanied by her husband Hugh O’Leary, the outgoing Prime Minister addressed the press outside her official residence and executive office where she made official the move that many believe had seen coming.

“I came into office at a time of great economic and international instability. Families and businesses were worried about how to pay their bills. Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine threatened the whole continent.” She started.

She also added that “Our country has been held up for too long by low economic growth. I was elected by the conservative party with the mandate to change this. We delivered on energy bills by cutting national insurance.”

Her party’s vision for a low tax high-growth economy that would take advantage of the freedom of Brexit wasn’t realized.

These are the reasons she attributes to her resolution to step down from UK’s top job

“I recognize, though, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which the conservative party elected me.”

Liz Truss also confirmed informing his Majesty the King of her resignation as leader of the conservative party.
