SHOOTING SHOTS

Ladies, would you reach out to your crush first? Or would you rather hope and pray they notice you exist, and somehow feel compelled by the Holy Spirit to have a conversation with you? I know most guys would (they are programmed to chase) although lately they shy away from shooting their shots. I wonder what harm shooting shots could do to anyone; it may be a point of vulnerability to an extent but you’ve spoken up, right? If I had a crush on someone, I wouldn’t just hope the spirit led them to me. I would say something. If it all works out I’ll be the biggest beneficiary. If it doesn’t, I’ll at least sleep better with the knowledge that I tried, and that’s a hell of a lot better than dreaming and assuming.

Gender roles when it comes to approaching someone you like shouldn’t matter at all. If you liken it to getting that pair of shoes, item of clothing or gadget you really want, you’ll quickly realize that the idea of not speaking first because you’re a woman is ridiculous. So what? Does that make me any less of a woman? Does it make me ballsy? Heck yes I’m ballsy; guts over fear any day! You never know; that person may also like you but is a little shy to approach you! So regardless of your gender, shoot your shot. You have nothing to lose in trying. Those who spew vitriol at women who shoot their shots and somehow end up being ridiculed are probably (and quite likely) admirers, but because they can’t be seen as such and would rather follow the bandwagon, they’ll add their voices to those ridiculing women who make the first move.

It’s the 21st century, the lines between gender roles are blurry at best. Women are shattering stereotypes across the globe and them making the first move in terms of relationships is no different from men doing so. And women rarely make the first move without their intuition doing all the fact checks; it’s probably the world’s most powerful sense. So if there’s a guy out there that you like, and your intuition gives you the green light, go on girl. Get your guy. With that beautiful mane atop your head, you definitely are the lion. Roar!
