Written by on October 3, 2022

This past weekend rewarded fans with some of the most thrilling sporting action. From the streets of London, Singapore, and to the Etihad, here’s a rundown of the best of the weekend’s sporting activities.

London Marathon

Amos Kipruto made his debut cementing Kenya’s athletic dominance by winning the 42nd London Marathon. Kipruto clocked 2:04:39 to beat Ethiopia’s Leul Gebresilase and Belgium’s Bashir Abdi. The first and the second runner-up managed 2:05:12 and 2:05:19 respectively.

Amos Kipruto is no stranger to Marathon success. He has previously triumphed at the Rome and Seoul marathons.

Interestingly, only Eliud Kipchoge beat him at the 2021 Tokyo Marathon held earlier this year.

In the Elite Women’s race, Joyciline Jepkosgei produced an equally strong result, emerging second. Ethiopia’s Yalemzerf Yehualaw had the last laugh with a time of  2:17:26 while her compatriot Alemu Megertu crossed the Finish Line third.

Manchester Derby

Hat-trick heroes Foden and Haaland

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden inspired Manchester City to a 6-3 victory at the Etihad last evening. In the process, Haaland broke the ‘three successive home hat-tricks in Premier League’  record.

An incredible curler from United’s latest signing Antony and a late double from Martial wasn’t enough to get the red devils out of this one.

The Norwegian now leads the scorers’ chart with 14 goals.

F1 Singapore Grand Prix

Not even a five-second post-race penalty could stop Red Bull’s Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez from winning his first Singapore Grand Prix yesterday.

An action packed Marina Bay Circuit saw 6 DNFs with Alpine and Williams both having to retire.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc failed to capitalize in his Pole position and only finished second.

Title leader Max Verstappen could have just won his second title yesterday with 5 races to spare had he finished first. The Dutchman finished seventh to bag 6 points. Max leads the Driver’s Standings with 341 points. His closest competitor Leclerc has 237 points.
