Mikel Arteta reaches win milestone and beats Arsene Wenger to a record in North London Derby triumph.
The Arsenal coach made history with Arsenal’s victory over Tottenham, achieving a feat that eluded Arsene Wenger during his entire tenure as manager of the Gunners.
Historic Win
In an exciting North London derby held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Arsenal clinched a crucial 3-2 victory against their arch-rivals.
The Gunners made a fantastic start, scoring three goals within the first 40 minutes, thanks to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s own goal and strikes from Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz.
Tottenham made a spirited comeback attempt, with goals from Cristian Romeo and Son Heung-min, but Arsenal held on for the win.
This triumph marked a significant milestone for Arsenal, who won consecutive away fixtures against Tottenham for the first time since the 1988-89 season.
It is noteworthy that Arsene Wenger, during his 22-year reign as manager, never achieved this feat, making Arteta’s achievement all the more impressive.
The last Arsenal manager to achieve this was George Graham in 1988. Before this victory, Arsenal had only managed to win two of their previous 17 meetings at Spurs’ home ground.
Arteta’s Milestone
Arsenal’s win over Tottenham marked a significant milestone for Mikel Arteta as it was his 100th win in the Premier League since taking charge of the team.
Arteta accomplished this feat in just 169 games, surpassing Wenger’s record of 179 matches to achieve a century of wins in the league.
Looking ahead, Arsenal will play an important Premier League match against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners will be eager to build on their momentum and secure another crucial victory as they aim for success in the league.
