You might have stumbled upon a young Kenyan man who prepares delicious dishes while wearing a full face mask. He showcases his impressive culinary skills and speaks Swahili and Sheng. He’s none other than Chef wa Eastlando or Jangu Hudheif and has taken social media by storm.
The young man has become famous for his amusing and often hard-to-understand narrations of his kitchen activities, as well as for the mystery surrounding his true identity.
Despite being known as a chef, he has a deep passion for fashion and hopes to pursue it in the future, even though he dropped out of school due to financial difficulties.
“My dream is to become a fashion designer. I have a deep passion for the field and dedicate a lot of my time to it,’ started off the young man during an appearance that he made on The Sandwich Podcast.
The chef went on to add that he used to sell second-hand clothes while hustling and he was good at it, “I had an eye for fashion, and my friends complimented me a lot” he added giving a little history on where his love for clothes stemmed from.
On why he hides his identity Hudheif started by highlighting,“I enjoy the freedom of being treated like any other person,”
He added that, despite loving the fame that comes with content creation, he also enjoys feeling like a regular person, being able to walk around and enjoy his space without being bombarded by fans or people shoving cameras in his face.
“Although I’m famous for my content, I don’t want my freedom compromised. I’ m here to show people my craft and all that na siwezi taka hii design sijui ukitembea wapi unacheki selfie, kuna time yako pia unatakaga your own time huwezi pata sijui umekaa Java au nini, unapata watu wanataka selfie.
Nikaona ndio niavoid vitu kaa hizo, wacha ni fiche sura yangu,” Chef wa Eastlando stated before going on to use comedian turned philanthropist and digital content creator Eric Omondi as a clear reason why he feels hiding his identity is the best option.
“Loot at Comedian Eric Omondi, he cannot leave his place without being recognized and disturbed by people. That’s what I’m avoiding I don’t like what comes with fame. I prefer my life as it was before,” the food content creator candidly said.
